If you’re like us, your favorite part of Thanksgiving is carefully curating the wine list to perfectly pair with your Thanksgiving dinner! With so many flavors around one table, it can be a challenge to find the right wines to pair with such a variety. Our list of wines includes a selection of reds and whites, so no matter what you’re serving, you can be sure you have some winners at the table.

  • Pinot Noir is known as a versatile Thanksgiving wine.  With its subtle earthy undertones and vanilla, clove and mushroom notes surrounding the fruit flavors, this varietal can stand up well next to traditional Thanksgiving foods.
  • Riesling’s are another great pick for the Thanksgiving table and can be either dry or sweet. These whites hold up well with dishes that are spicy, salty or sweet. With notes of orchard fruits like apricot, peach, apple, and pear and usually high acidity, Riesling’s are a great pairing for dishes such as sweet potatoes, turkey and herb stuffing.
  • Gewurztraminer is a highly aromatic and slightly spicy wine and provides another interesting pick for Thanksgiving. Pie spice notes are reminiscent of a pie with nutmeg, cloves and allspice and the slight sweetness and sizzling acidity will pair well with foods higher in fat around the table.

Our Gewürztraminer displays classic rose and ginger aromatics. The concentration of the vintage is apparent in the mouth, there is great texture to balance the abundant fruit. We strive for balance, this grape seems almost naturally prone to excess, with great interplay between acid and fruit. This balance is key with great ‘Gewürz’, both in texture and flavor. This is a showy vintage, yet and displays the floral notes, tropical fruit, and spice flavors that are the hallmarks of Thomas Fogarty Gewürztraminer.

A selection of our favorite barrels from the vintage, the 2014 Selection is an elegant, terroir-driven Pinot Noir. A lustrous garnet hue in the glass, the wine opens with rich aromas of black cherries, forest floor, and baking spices. Seductively savory notes of elderberry and driftwood smoke on the palate are punctuated by vibrant acidity and fine tannins. The finish is long and resonant, with notes of blood orange and incense cedar. Exceptional now, we believe it will continue to evolve for at least a decade.

All the 2018 Giant Steps Pinots have lovely perfume, color and very generous mouthfeels. This wine expresses an intricate blend of delicious parcels from Giant Steps’ Tarraford, Applejack, Lusatia Park, Primavera and Sexton vineyards. Powerful, lifted aromas of cherries, blue and red fruits are complemented by underlying savory, gamey characters.

Our Apaltagua Reserva Pinot Noir possesses a clean, brilliant, ruby red color and emphasizes aromas of cherries and raspberries, well combined with soft notes of oak. In the mouth, it boasts smooth and elegant tannins followed by a sophisticated finish.


2016 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Russian River, Sonoma County
Ageing: 10 Months in French Oak

The 2016 Annabella Pinot Noir is an eloquently feminine version of Russian River Pinot Noir. Its nose is expressive with complex floral notes (violets, jasmine), high tone, almost tropical fruit notes, and a light orange peel zest. In the mouth, the wine is textured and delicate, with bright cherry, rose petals, and an earthiness reminiscent of sarsaparilla. The soft, lengthy finish lingers with light caramel. While this wine may appear a bit shy upon first opening, it blooms with assertion after some time in the glass.
